The Atlantic in the title is, in fact, the Canadian Atlantic coast, mainly Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island. It is a handsomely illustrated celebration of traditional wooden boats in that region, from the ubiquitous dory to the legendary Cape Islander, at a time that sees the ever-rapid encroachment of fibreglass and aluminium. There are generations of refinement in design and craftsmanship on display here. HB 94pp Colour photos
