This book contains 20 of the most useful knots anyone might need to use on-board. The obvious (reef knot, sheet bend, bowline, clove hitch, etc.) are joined by the less obvious (carrick bend etc.). Each knot is presented on two facing pages, with simple instructions and photographs on, not only how to tie it, but also how and where to use it. The added value of the book is the inclusion of further instruction on rope handling: how to coil halyards and sheets, make up coils for stowage, handle shore lines, heaving lines, fixing winch overrides, tow dinghies and pick up moorings.
