In accordance with Regulation 10 of Annex V of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973,as modified by the Protocol of 1978, a record is to be kept of each discharge operation or completed incineration. This includes discharges into the sea, to reception facilities, or to other ships, as well as the accidental loss of garbage.

Cayman Maritime Garbage Record Logbook provides 50 pages of entries for these circumstances. Each page contains a grid-table format for organized entries and each table has columns for: date/time, position of the ship/remarks, category, estimated amount discharged or incinerated, to sea, to reception facilities, incineration and certification/signature.
